Welcome to The Handbag Studio! By accessing or using our website, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using our services.
This website is operated by The Handbag Studio Ltd. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to The Handbag Studio. The Handbag Studio offers this website, including all information, tools and Services available from this site to you, the user, conditioned upon your acceptance of all terms, conditions, policies and notices stated here.
By visiting our site and/ or purchasing/renting something from us / restoring something with us, you engage in our “Service” and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions (“Terms of Service”, “Terms”), including those additional terms and conditions and policies referenced herein and/or available by hyperlink. These Terms of Service apply to all users of the site, including without limitation users who are browsers, vendors, customers, merchants, and/ or contributors of content.
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before accessing or using our website. By accessing or using any part of the site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement, then you may not access the website or use any Services. If these Terms of Service are considered an offer, acceptance is expressly limited to these Terms of Service.
Any new features or tools which are added to the current store shall also be subject to the Terms of Service. You can review the most current version of the Terms of Service at any time on this page. We reserve the right to update, change or replace any part of these Terms of Service by posting updates and/or changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to the website following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to provide our products and Services to you.
Interpretation
A “business day” means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday in Ireland. The headings in these Terms and Conditions are for convenience only and will not affect their interpretation.
Words imparting the singular number include the plural and vice-versa.
General Conditions
We reserve the right to refuse Service to anyone for any reason at any time.
You understand that your content (not including credit card information), may be transferred unencrypted and involve (a) transmissions over various networks; and (b) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks or devices. Credit card information is always encrypted during transfer over networks.
You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the Service, use of the Service, or access to the Service or any contact on the website through which the Service is provided, without express written permission by us.
Minor damage to rental bags
We understand that your rental may be subject to minor damage / light wear and tear, and you will not be charged for this. Acceptable light wear and tear includes:

Minor, superficial scratches on hardware

Minor scuffs on corners or trim

Minor marks on the interior that can be easily cleaned
“Minor” refers to anything smaller than the size of a €0.20 coin.
Any damage beyond the outlined examples of light wear and tear is not covered and may result in additional charges. For more details on potential damage fees, please refer to our damage charges section below.
‘Wear & Tear Protection’ add-on
Our Wear & Tear Protection is a non-refundable add-on that covers minor accidental damages to the bag (as outlined above) during your rental period. However, it does not cover the following:

Loss or theft of the item

Missing parts of the item

Major visible wear to the interior or exterior of the item, larger than a €0.20 coin (including stains, tears, rips or scratches)

Fire or smoke damage
By adding this protection to your rental, you can enjoy your bag worry-free while staying confident that minor accidents won’t incur additional charges.
Major damage to rental bags
Please contact us immediately if any of the above damage occurs, by email at support@thehandbagstudio.ie.
Depending on the extent of the damage, we may deduct a repair fee from your security deposit. If the bag cannot be restored to a rentable condition, you may be liable for the full cost price of the item. Any balance not covered by the security deposit will need to be paid in full.
If theft occurs, you are also required to report this to the relevant authorities.
Damage charges
If minor damage beyond light wear and tear (as described above) is identified during the return approval process, our in-house restoration expert will assess the damage and determine the repair cost. You will be notified by email if your item has not passed the return approval process, along with the exact cost of repairs.
The repair cost will be deducted from your €50 security deposit. If the repair cost is less than €50, the remaining balance of your deposit will be refunded to you. If the repair cost exceeds €50, you will be required to pay the remaining balance.
If you have purchased our Wear & Tear Protection add-on, you will not be charged for minor damages covered by this protection. However, please note that Wear & Tear Protection does not cover anything we consider major damage as outlined above. In these cases, you will be required to pay the full cost of the item.
Verification
When you place an order, you will need to verify your ID. At The Handbag Studio, verifying your identity is quick and simple. Once you’ve placed your order, your verification process will take only a few minutes at checkout.
You’ll need to have a government-issued ID and proof of address ready (such as a utility bill or bank statement). Once verification is completed, you’ll receive an approval email with the full details of your order, and your rental will be finalised.
It’s a one-time process—after your initial verification, future checkouts will be seamless and hassle-free.
Security deposit
At The Handbag Studio, we charge a mandatory €50 security deposit for all rentals. This amount will be automatically added to your basket at checkout when completing your rental order.
Each item is carefully photographed and inspected before your rental period begins, and the same process is repeated when your rental ends. This is an integral part of our return approval process, ensuring transparency and accuracy for both parties.
Once your rental period ends and you return the item, we will begin the return approval process, typically within 1-2 working days of the return date.
During this process, we check the item for any damages and re-authenticate it to ensure the same product is returned in its original condition.
Once your return is approved, you will receive an email notification, and your €50 security deposit will be refunded in full. Please note that depending on your bank, it may take a few working days for the refund to appear in your account.
Returning your rental bag
For rental bags, a prepaid An Post shipping label will be included in your package. There will also be a return address label for The Handbag Studio. Simply pack up your bag, attach both labels and drop it off at your nearest post office. Your 'return date' is the day you must drop the item to An Post, noting you must check your local An Post opening hours.
You must return your rental on time. If your rental is not returned on time you will be subject to late fees. Your rental return date will be given to you at the point of checkout and is considered the last day of your rental period.
Late fees for rental bags
Any late fees will be taken from your €50 security deposit. Here are our late fees:

1 day late: €50 charge

2 days late: €100 charge

More than 2 days late: You will be required to pay the full cost of the item.
If you are having genuine issues with returning your rental on time, please contact us immediately at support@thehandbagstudio.ie. We are always here to assist.
Please note that we closely monitor all delivery and return dates through our courier provider. As outlined in our shipment and delivery policy, if there is a delivery delay caused by our courier partner, we will extend your rental period accordingly. However, if the delay is not the fault of the courier, your rental period will not be extended.
If your item is returned late due to a courier error, you will not incur a late fee. However, if the delay is not caused by the courier, our standard late fees will apply.
Rental bag cancellation
We offer a 48-hour cooling-off period for cancellations, starting from the time you place your rental order. If you wish to cancel your order within this time frame, please email us at support@thehandbagstudio.ie.
If you cancel your order after the 48-hour cooling-off period, unfortunately, no refund will be issued.
Restoration and selling your bag meaning of words
Definitions related to our restoration services:

Depreciated Value: The value of the item in its pre-work condition.

Full Item Value: Full Retail Value at point of purchase proven by receipt

Item(s): Handbag, purse or other items of leather, fabric or suede booked for Service.

Maximum Liability: €5,000. The maximum amount we will pay, per Item, if it is lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair whilst on our premise.

Order Confirmation: A Handbag Studio document detailing the Items You have booked in and the Service to be carried out on them. This document details the any/ possible problems or restrictions.
-
Service/Work: The cleaning, repair or restoration of Your Items.
Orders
An Item booked in for Our Services is only classed as a firm order when paid in full by the You, prior to any Work being carried out. You will be given an Order Confirmation, by email, please make sure You carefully read this and inform Us of any changes you would like made within 24 hours of placing the order. We do not guarantee that such a change will be possible.
Restoration work guarantee
We guarantee our labour and material for 12 months from the day Your Item is collected/delivered.
Restoration work pricing and changes
We reserve the right to increase the price of the order where You request a change to the work to be carried-out. Your quote is valid for 30 days, we reserve the right to change pricing of our services at any time.
Sending us your item for restoration work
Once Your quote is approved and payment is received, we will send you a box with a prepaid shipping label a return label for The Handbag Studio to securely send your item to us.
If you are based in Dublin, we also offer a pick-up service for your convenience. Please note this in your restoration form.
Restoration delivery
When we have finished the Work on your Item(s) we will contact you to notify you of delivery. For delivery:

We shall deliver the Item(s) to the location specified by yourself on completion.

We reserve the right to charge you for re-delivery of any item which has been returned to us by the Couriers as undelivered where you have failed to take delivery. You must notify us of any issues with receiving your package within 72 hours of receiving confirmation of your shipment.

Given the nature of the items we handle, please let us know if you would like fully insured delivery by contacting us at support@thehandbagstudio.ie. The value of the Item in the event of a claim is the Depreciated Value of the item which is determined by the current pre-owned market and our in-house team.

We will give you an approximate delivery date and will not be held responsible for any delays as a result of factors outside of Our control.

Delivery charges may apply to items returned to the customer, even if no Services are carried-out.

We take no responsibility for any items lost or damaged that are not within our care.

We will not be responsible for any Customs issues, charges or delays.

We reserve the right not deliver any Item until payment has been received.
Restoration timescales
The length of time required to properly carry out Our Services can vary from a couple of days to two or three months, your initial estimated lead time will be stated on your Order Confirmation. Leadtime's may change at any given point with no prior notice. The variation is down to the type of Service required, the availability of materials/parts, fluctuations in demand and our Artisanal workforce.
Restoration liability
Whilst your Item(s) is in our care you are insured up to the Full Item Value, Depreciated Value or our Maximum Liability, whichever is the lesser, minus the cost of our Services. This is to cover you should your Item(s) become lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair.
Items in our care are:

Any Item currently having our services carried out, or waiting for our services to be carried out, after payment.

Any Item you post to us will be held in our care for a maximum period of 90 days and will only be deemed in our care when we acknowledge receiving it.
The Depreciated Value of your item will be determined by our in house specialists in conjunction with our Insurance provider.
Exclusions to liability
As a cleaning, repair & restoration service any Items are sent to us in a damaged and devalued state.
We will not be held liable for:

Any damage to, or defect in, an item which we have not been contracted to Work on.

Any Item in transit to us.
-
Delays or failures which are due to any cause beyond our reasonable control.
-
Failed repairs due to inherent problems within the material or structure of the item.
-
'Loss of value' against manufacturer original models after the service has been carried-out.
-
Any other part of a set that the Item may have been part of, and we will only be liable for the Item.
-
Any damage which is not related to or caused by our Services.
-
For any Item which suffers damage by Our Service, whereby the manufacturer's instructions have been adhered to.

Whilst we employ industry standard techniques and proprietary materials, we do not warrant use of, or employment of, manufacturer original materials or processes. Where original materials are not available, parts and colours will be matched as closely as possible to the original - or to the agreed specification (such as colour matched to a particular part of the Item).

The Order Confirmation lists all Items we will be responsible for. We will not be held liable for the loss or damage of any accessories, such as dust bags, locks, credit cards etc. that are not listed on the Order Confirmation.

If an item is repaired to a reasonably satisfactory standard no liability will be accepted for depreciation in value.
Complaints
You must notify us of any problem or complaint you have with the workmanship on the Item(s) within seven days of you receiving the Item(s). If you notice a mark, stain or blemish that is on the Item and was not listed on the Order Confirmation you must notify us of this within 24 hours or receiving the Item.

Where there is a dispute over the detail of the work carried-out, the record on our ordering system is taken as the firm and final order.

We cannot accept returns or requests for refunds on the basis of the customer's change of heart.

We cannot accept returns or requests for refunds where a change to an order had been requested and that change could not be fulfilled.

All materials you supplied to us for use in completing the order shall be free of charge for our use and we shall return any surplus materials to you on completion of the order. We accept no liability for their suitability and will not be liable for any damage or defect to/in the item caused by or arising from the use of them.

We will not be liable for any damage to - or deterioration of/in - the item resulting from use or application of inappropriate products or inappropriate use/misuse of the Item following delivery of the order.

Where you are clearly at fault, we will endeavour to repair and/or alter the Item to your satisfaction at your cost.

Where we are clearly at fault, we will endeavour to repair and/or alter the Item to your satisfaction at our cost. At all times, this will be the first course of action. Where the item must be returned to us for this purpose, we will reimburse your costs of dispatch as evidenced by a valid receipt/invoice.

We are not liable for any compensation related to delays.

Any claim settled will be on the condition that it is accepted by the customer as full and final settlement.
Treating stains during restoration process
We do not guarantee the removal of any stains. Linings that are heavily soiled may be difficult to clean satisfactorily. The basic price of cleaning does not include the removal of heavy or ingrained stains. If a stain cannot be removed, we will match the colour of the bag and apply a coat of colour over the stain to hide it. This process is only possible on leather and cannot be done on suede, nubuck, canvas or fabric. This service is not included within the price of cleaning.
Suede/Nubuck - some types of stains may not be removable. Because of the nature of the material, significant betterment may not be possible.
Cleaning during/after restoration process
Please note that adhesives, defects and faults which were previously camouflaged in manufacture may become more apparent after the cleaning process, and although every care is taken, we cannot always disguise natural flaws or totally remove adhesives, or other techniques employed by the manufacturer. All items are therefore only accepted by us for cleaning at your own risk.
With age, leather handbags can become worn and discoloured. The dirt on the bag can sometimes hide this wear & tear and our cleaning process can expose it. If this happens you will be notified and offered to upgrade your service to restore the colour to these areas. It is not our cleaning process that has caused this damage and so we will not be liable for it.
Look & feel during/after restoration process
After applying some of our services to your handbag, the texture may slightly change from the original. The worse the damage is, the more of our products need to be applied and so the more the texture might change. During our processes we make every effort possible to restore an item to how it originally was.
When leather becomes dirty, it can develop a shine. After cleaning leather and removing the dirt this shine is also removed. This is not a negative as it restores the leather to how it originally was. We accept no liability for a complaint in such circumstances. The shine can be increased on leather with additional services if required.
When restoring a full item of leather we will match the colour to the most original part of the item, this is usually found on the inside of a pocket, the inside of the item or in any area that has not been or had little exposure to sunlight and wear & tear. We will match to such an area unless a different area is documented at the booking stage.
When restoring the colour to only part of an item we will match the colour to the surrounding area to help it blend in better. We will always clean the full item before doing this to help equalise the colour as best as possible. However, if some leathers are also worn in other areas our process may highlight these areas further.
Online offers for selling your bag
All offers will be based on The Handbag Studio’s own determination of the item(s) value in reliance on the accuracy of the information you supply us. The Handbag Studio will use its discretion to determine the item(s) value, weighing factors that may include the item(s) model, functionality, size, age and condition and whether necessary item(s) accessories have been provided by you. Your Initial Offer will be valid for fourteen (14) days. If we fail to receive your item within fourteen (14) days you may need to open another transaction with us at which point, assuming the Item(s) is still eligible for purchase, the new offer may be different as Item(s) prices are subject to change.
Sending us your items you wish to sell
When selling your bag to us, please refrain from including any extra items that were not part of the original purchase, such as bag liners, receipts or additional embellishments. Proof of purchase and receipts are disposed of to meet GDPR guidelines as they contain sensitive information. We won't assume liability for additional items, your cooperation in adhering to this policy is greatly appreciated for a smooth transaction.
When packaging your item(s) be sure to include all materials included in your description, when we calculated your offer. This may include particular accessories. Failure to include any item(s) you told us about when the offer was calculated, or sending us an item(s) which does not match your original description, may impact the final value of your item(s) and may result in a revised offer.
Packing and shipping recommendations provided to you by The Handbag Studio should be followed in order to avoid possible damage to or loss of the Item(s) in transit. The Handbag Studio will inspect all item(s) that are received. We have the option to accept or reject the item(s), including without limitation, to reject any Item(s) not conforming to the description you provided to us, any item(s) modified in such a way that it no longer conforms to the original factory specifications, any item(s) no longer complying with applicable laws or regulations and/or any item(s) damaged or lost in transit. If The Handbag Studio rejects the item(s) for any of these reasons, the original offer automatically expires and is rescinded. The Handbag Studio reserves the right to revoke the original offer and provide a revised offer for the item(s) if: (a) the item(s) and/or materials are not as described,(b) the item(s) is received by The Handbag Studio after the Delivery Period, and/or (c) The Handbag Studio receives item(s) that are different from those identified when your offer was calculated
In the event The Handbag Studio recalculates the offer it provided for the item(s) after it has been received and inspected, as described above, you shall have the option of accepting or rejecting the new offer. If you accept the new offer, you will be paid in normal course and in accordance with these service terms.
If you reject the offer or we are unable to accept the item, The Handbag Studio will return the item(s) to you at the charge of €10 (Republic of Ireland only) at the address from which it was originally sent. The Handbag Studio will give you a period of 30 days after The Handbag Studio presents you with are calculated offer via email at the address you provided to accept or reject the new offer. The Handbag Studio will also remind you of the outstanding new offer one or more times during the New Offer Period.
Cash payments when selling us your item
Payments made to clients who accepted CASH offers are made via direct bank transfer not in cash. This is actioned in 3-5 working days from when we have completed the final assessment of your item(s) at our Head Office however we reserve the right to extend this during busy periods. Your item(s) is owned solely by The Handbag Studio from point of payment.
In any event you fail to provide your account details on request or provide incorrect account details, you have 12 months to inform us of the correct details so successful payment can be made. If these are not provided within 12 months, The Handbag Studio is no longer liable to make this payment to you but can retain your item(s).
Liability when assessing your items you wish to sell
Whilst your Item(s) is in our care you are insured up to the Full Item Value, Depreciated Value or our Maximum Liability, whichever is the lesser, minus the cost of our Services. This is to cover you should your Item(s) become lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair.
Law and Jurisdiction
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted according to the law of Ireland and all disputes arising under the Agreement (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
Modifications to the service and prices
Prices for our products and services are subject to change without notice.
We reserve the right at any time to modify or discontinue the Service (or any part or content thereof) without notice at any time.
We shall not be liable to you or to any third-party for any modification, price change, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.
